Hiking the Rockies 8.16.20

I did a lot of research before our trip to Colorado and hiking the RMNP, especially with the pandemic -I knew we had to extra cautious. A week before this trip, I was admitted for an emergency gallbladder surgery removal but I was still so determined to hike the RMNP since my doctor gave me the okay but to take it slow. I have ZERO regrets and would do it again!

8.16 is also my birthday and I was so determined to do this hike regardless of my situation. We woke up at 3 am because we stayed in Brighton, CO so it was quite the drive but the views were definitely worth it. We arrived to the Bear Lake trailhead just before 6 am and the parking lot was almost full – thankfully we found a spot! We hiked Emerald Lake that started with a bit of an incline and eventually led us to Dream Lake which is absolutely incredible. There were still a lot of people already there and hiking back, we turned back around and hiked the Lake Haiyaha trail, a moderate 3.6 mile trail but let me tell you, the incline is no joke! We didn’t make it all the way because I was too exhausted and decided to turn back and head to our rental van.

I’m already planning another trip to the RMNP, I’d love to hear your experiences and any recommendations you have! Hope you enjoyed the images from my trip 🙂
